    ThEC15 in Mumbai, India

ThEC15 - Gateway to Thorium Energy!
Anushakti Nagar, a part of Mumbai called the “Atomic Power City” welcomes you to learn more...

  • Affordable

Thorium is one of the most energy-dense elements found in nature spread over all the continents in large quantities. Abundant and efficient, can Thorium offer an affordable energy source?

  • Safe

Are there safe methods of using Thorium with no risk of meltdowns or explosions? Can Thorium also be proliferation resistant?

  • Proven

Research into the use of Thorium started in the 1960’s in the US government's atomic lab. Was it already then proven as a superior fuel?

  • Clean

Reactors fuelled by Thorium create zero-emission energy. Is a drastic waste reduction in both amount and lifetime enough?

  • Sustainable

If affordable, safe and clean, does Thorium offer a sustainable solution to the world’s energy problem?

  • Conference

Gateway to Thorium Energy! The best and brightest speakers in the field in a world class location – is ThEC15 in Mumbai at BARC a unique opportunity?

India set to Close the Cycle

Most countries have today changed from the closed fuel cycle path to the once-through, open fuel cycle. India, however, is not only aiming for a closed fuel cycle but one based on Thorium for long-term domestic fuel supply. This is a huge and in many ways unique undertaking.

Reuters: U.S. and China Collaborate on Thorium

Reuters has published a ’Special Report’ called ’The U-S- government lab behind China’s nuclear power push’, which looks at the ongoing research on thorium, where U.S. and China collaborate.

The Future of Energy, Nuclear and a Touch of Thorium

The Nobel Week Dialogue is an open, cross-disciplinary meeting, bringing together a unique constellation of Nobel Laureates, world-leading scientists, policy makers and thought leaders focused on Exploring the Future of Energy. Topics include renewables, nuclear energy, fossil fuels and climate change. The event took place the day before the award ceremony for the 2013 Nobel Prize winners.

Areva and Solvay Join Forces to Thorify

Thorium is not new for Areva. Indeed, it has researched Thorium fuels since the 1970’s. Now, Areva has joined forces with the Belgian chemical company Solvay on an R&D programme focused on medium-term Thorium valorization in nuclear power, geared towards first phase of fuel development with irradiation by 2020.

BBC News on Thorium

A recent BBC News report provides a good overview of the current status in thorium research as a nuclear fuel, views of its supporters and voices of criticism.

Thorium: In Search of a Global Solution

The CERN Bulletin has an article called “Thorium: In Serach of a Global Solution” that discusses ThEC13, ADS technology with Jean-Pierre Revol and Thorium with world famous Hans Blix in a video.

Sunniva Rose Loves Thorium

Sunniva Rose gives a presentation at TEDxOslo titled “How bad is it really? Facts and feelings about nuclear power” which focuses on her favorite element: Thorium.

ThEC13 in Geneva at CERN - Success!

With over 200 participants from 32 countries and all Thorium Energy Programs represented in the Globe of Science and Innovation at CERN we conclude ThEC13 to be a success! The Reception and Banquette was held at the famous Hotel President Wilson. A CERN detector visit was made and we were welcommed by the CERN Director General Mr. Rolf-Dieter Heuer followed by the world famous Hans Blix and Nobel Prize Laureate Carlo Rubbia gave the scientific introduction. The banquette speach was delivered by M. Pascal Couchepin, the former President of the Swizz Confederation. And so on...
